The city ranks among the top five cheapest places for rental cars this Labour Day weekend, averaging just $84 per day. That’s perfect for anyone planning to explore the Island or hit the ferry and cruise up the coast.

Meanwhile, flights aren’t too shabby either, KAYAK says the cheapest day to fly within Canada is Friday, August 29th, with an average fare of $352.

Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary top the list of most-searched destinations for Labour Day, but international wanderlusters haven’t gone quiet either. Paris and London are among the most popular overseas picks, even with higher airfare (Paris is averaging $872 while London will set you back about $1,067).

KAYAK reports a 23% jump in domestic rental car searches compared to last year, proving that road trips are still king. And if you’re curious about international deals, Lisbon, Portugal ($43/day) and Dublin, Ireland ($45/day) take the crown for cheapest car rentals abroad.

On the home front, Edmonton is leading for cheapest flights at $278, but Victoria is standing out for those who want to keep things local, flexible, and fun with that affordable rental car price.
