The end is near for two Six Flags theme parks in the U.S.

But don’t fret, if you’re worried about New Jersey’s Six Flags Great Adventure shutting down.

Even though Kingda Ka is no more, you will still have plenty of rides to enjoy since that theme park is not one of the ones slated to close.

Here’s what you need to know about the theme parks headed for the chopping block, when they are closing and if other Six Flags parks are headed for the same fate.

What Six Flags theme parks are closing?

Six Flags is closing two theme parks, one in Bowie, Md. and one in Santa Clara, Calif.

Six Flags announced recently it would close Six Flags America in Maryland by the end of the year for redevelopment and Six Flags California Adventure on the West Coast later on when the lease expiring.

When is Six Flags closing these two theme parks?

Six Flags is closing its Maryland outpost in November 2025, according to the company.

Hurricane Harbor Maryland will also close at the end of the season.

Six Flags America and the Hurricane Harbor water park will stop full weekday operations on Friday, Aug. 22, with the exception of Monday, Sept. 1, which means it will remain open for Labor Day, according to the company’s calendar online.

The two parks will be open on weekends through the end of August, and Six Flags America will remain open into the fall for Fright Fest. The last weekend date Hurricane Harbor Maryland is operating is Sept. 6 while Six Flags America is open weekends until Sunday, Nov. 2.

Fans of Six Flags California’s Great America will have a little more time to enjoy the theme park, as it will not shut its doors until at least the end of 2027, according to People Magazine.

Will more Six Flags parks close?

Not at this time. However, some Six Flags parks in California are experiencing job cuts, according to KTLA.
