As a lifelong Disney fan and AllEars editor, I look at the Disney World wait times every single day. It’s no surprise that I’ve noticed quite a few trends!
Rope drop, if you choose to wake up that early, is one of the most valuable times of the day…if you do it right. I’ve noticed a mistake that continues to be made when it comes to rope drop in Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, and it’s time we brought it to the spotlight!
The go-to rule is that you should run to the most popular ride in the park as soon as the rope “drops” — but what if I told you that’s no longer the case?
Let’s start with Animal Kingdom, where there’s no doubt that Flight of Passage is the most popular attraction in the park. First thing in the morning, the wait time skyrocketed up to 60 minutes. By the end of the day, the wait dropped to 20 minutes. That’s basically how long it takes to stroll through the giant queue!
My suggestion? Head to Kilimanjaro Safaris. This ride is also notorious for garnering lengthy wait times, and many people don’t make the trek to the back of the park first thing in the morning. Every safari is different, so you could probably even hop back in line before the wait time starts to increase.
This is also true for Rise of the Resistance most of the time. Wait times tend to drop towards the end of the night! This is slightly riskier because this ride is known for breaking down pretty frequently, and sometimes it doesn’t come back up, but it’s up to you and your priorities.
