Canada’s Wonderland has a new policy for its Halloween Haunt event: teens 15 years old or younger will need a chaperone to enter after 6 p.m.
Chaperones must be 21 or older, must provide identification at the entrance and can accompany a maximum of 10 people, according to the park’s conduct policy and guidelines. Those who are 16 or older with no identification may be denied entry, the park said.
The policy is not in response to a specific incident and it will only be in place for the Halloween Haunt, said spokesperson Grace Peacock via email.
“A safe, family-friendly atmosphere is the type of experience our guests expect and deserve at Canada’s Wonderland,” Peacock said.
“We’re introducing this policy as a best practice in the industry, after seeing incidents of unruly and inappropriate behavior over the years at amusement parks and major entertainment venues.”
The park will also implement a no re-entry policy after 6 p.m. To enter the park in the evening, people are warned that oversized bags will not be allowed and there is a one bag policy per person.
There is also a change to the mask and costume policy.
People 11 years old or older will not be allowed to wear costume masks, full face paint or trench coats, the park said.
