GURUGRAM- Air India (AI) has entered an interline partnership with WestJet (WS) to expand connectivity across North America. Key hubs include Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR), enabling seamless onward travel.

The partnership also integrates European gateways, including Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), London Heathrow Airport (LHR), and London Gatwick Airport (LGW), strengthening access to Canada and the United States.

Air India has announced an interline agreement with WestJet, Canada’s leading leisure carrier, to expand connectivity beyond Toronto and Vancouver.

This partnership allows passengers to book single-ticket itineraries combining flights from both airlines.

The agreement improves travel efficiency through coordinated baggage handling and simplified transfers.

Passengers travelling from India to Canada can now access a broader network of destinations across North America through seamless connections.

Through Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR), travellers can connect to 17 cities in Canada and 14 cities in the United States.

Canadian cities include: Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Winnipeg, Halifax, Ottawa, Regina, Saskatoon, Kelowna, St. John’s, Prince George, Victoria, Fort St. John, Terrace, Cranbrook, Comox, and Nanaimo.

US cities include: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Detroit, Orlando, Phoenix, Tampa, Nashville, Las Vegas, San Diego, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Springs, Santa Ana, and Fort Myers.

This expanded network supports growing demand driven by strong economic and cultural ties between India and North America.

Connectivity and Operational Frequency

Air India enhances this partnership through its European network. Destinations such as Halifax, Calgary, and St. John’s are also accessible via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), London Heathrow Airport (LHR), and London Gatwick Airport (LGW).

This structure increases routing flexibility and provides additional travel options for passengers.

Air India currently operates 17 weekly non-stop flights to Canada, including:

  • 10 weekly flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
  • 7 weekly flights to Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

The airline also operates 75 weekly services to European gateways, including:

  • 49 weekly flights to London Heathrow Airport (LHR)
  • 5 weekly flights to London Gatwick Airport (LGW)
  • 14 weekly flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)
  • 7 weekly flights to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS)

These frequencies support strong connectivity for interline travel.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, stated that Canada remains a key market due to strong people-to-people ties and growing trade.

He emphasized that the partnership improves accessibility with single-ticket convenience, coordinated baggage handling, and a wider choice of destinations.

John Weatherill, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer of the WestJet Group, stated that the agreement expands access between India and Canada.

He highlighted that the partnership combines Air India’s long-haul strength with WestJet’s North American network to improve the overall travel experience.
