  • Qatar Airways strengthens link with Mozambique as flights between Doha and Maputo increase from four to seven a week

Qatar Airways has announced an expansion of its operations to Mozambique, increasing the frequency of flights on the Maputo–Doha route.

According to the airline’s latest update, the Doha–Maputo–Durban connection will increase from four to seven weekly flights, ensuring a daily service from 16 June 2026.

The move represents an important step in Mozambique’s air connectivity with the Middle East and other international markets, facilitating business travel, tourism and passenger transport between Maputo and one of the world’s main air transport hubs.

With this decision, Qatar Airways expands its presence in Africa and consolidates Maputo as a strategic point in its regional network.

.Qatar Airways expands African network

Qatar Airways is expanding its African network, with increased services set to begin from 16 June 2026, strengthening the airline’s presence in the region.

The airline is increasing connectivity across Africa, with flight resumptions and frequency increases starting from 16 June.

It will resume four weekly flights to Seychelles and two weekly flights to Kigali from 16 June, and a daily flight to Marrakesh from 1 July.

Qatar Airways will also increase frequencies on several routes:

  • Alexandria (HBE): from three weekly flights to up to seven
  • Cairo (CAI): from 28 weekly flights to up to 35
  • Cape Town (CPT): from seven weekly flights to up to 10
  • Dar es Salaam (DAR): from three weekly flights to up to seven
  • Lusaka (LUN)–Harare (HRE): from five weekly flights to up to seven
  • Maputo (MPM)–Durban (DUR): from four weekly flights to up to seven

The airline will also launch three weekly flights to Port Sudan from 2 July.

Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays:

  • Doha (DOH)–Port Sudan (PZU): QR1319 departs 09:00, arrives 11:00
  • Port Sudan (PZU)–Doha (DOH): QR1320 departs 12:25, arrives 16:20

Passengers travelling to Port Sudan from key markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, such as Oman and Pakistan, will be able to connect via Hamad International Airport.

Qatar Airways said the move reinforces its commitment to global connectivity, while supporting sustainable growth and meeting rising demand for air travel and trade.

The airline is expanding its global network to more than 160 destinations worldwide.
